Chilled storage hire to assist with seed potato quality.
This was a really nice job for a great customer on the Island of Jersey.
Jersey Royal were experiencing a problem with seed potatoes sprouting early. This causes issues when planting mechanically- the sprouts are knocked-off setting the growing cycles back and ultimately effecting the yield.
Critically, keeping the potatoes dormant can literally be the difference between profit and loss.
Chilled storage hire was required in three areas with a target temperature was specified at 2 Degrees.
I view of this, we recommended cooling systems comprising of ACR LT50 low temperature air handlers with full defrost controls and low temperature water chillers running a Glycol mixed water solution.
The AHU’s were mounted at high level to give good coverage to the densely packed areas.
Installed for a total of 6 months, chilled storage hire project achieved the customers target temperatures- sprouting was completely stopped, setting the potatoes for successful planting and high yields.

A really nice temporary chilled storage project. This fruit storage warehouse was finished to a high specification and has been contracted initially for 2 years.

Cold storage is especially tricky to maintain in readiness for the six or seven weeks of the year when you really need it. Renting equipment when you really need it makes business sense.
